Tbh I think Notes might force Substack’s approach to change. A social media feed and newsletter service require two very different moderation methods because they spread information in very different ways.
Yeah, I think you are right. I think that was fundamentally the Platformer's stance. Substack wants to hold onto the old policies when it just a newsletter service. Their mostly hands off approach works well enough for just newsletter, but really starts to trip up with any kind of algorithmic recommendations like Notes or any thing else that's not manually curated.
I don't think I would have the same success with Byte-Sized Ethics on a different platform right now because I benefit from Notes / Algo reccs, which is why I'm hanging around for a while yet to continue to grow.
